I’m not a big numbers junkie and don’t regularly check my blog statistics. However, just today I noticed several visits to my blog who came through the keyword search phrase “say yes to the dress sarah carr”. Being on the lookout for wedding dresses and loving almost every show on TLC I instantly knew that “say yes to the dress” was the hit TV show about brides on the prowl for their perfect wedding dress. Not only that but the girl who was on the recent show had the name Sarah Carr!
Now I’m just waiting to get emails and Facebook comments about my debut on TLC - but NO, NO I have not been on the show…but I do apparently have mad SEO skills
Here’s the clip - she states her name at 1:15. Enjoy!! xoxo
This weekend I went on a mad hunt for jeggings (a cross between jeans & leggings) - the new IT fashion piece to rock this spring! I have more than enough skinny jeans but jeggings caught my attention when I spotted them recently in the latest Anthropologie & Nordstrom issues. I had to find a fabulous pair or two for spring!
Notorious for forward-fashion pieces, I made Nordstrom my first stop on my quest. Luckily I did - because this is where I started AND ended my search. It was unbelievable how many Jegging brands and pieces they had in stock! I tried on a dozen pairs and ended up with two; JOE’s Grey wash ($88) and Easy Money denim wash ($88).
The JOE’s jean leggings [below] are available in 42 different washes and treatments and come fitted with an ankle zipper and even distressed options emulating your favorite pair of ripped up jeans. Fabulous! The only things I suggest with the JOE’s are getting the smallest pair you can possibly fit in to (tend to stretch) and just because you fit in one size in one style, doesn’t mean you will in another. In the grey wash I fit into a small but in the denim wash I fit into a petite. All I’m saying is make sure to TRY each style on before you buy.
The Easy Money Jean Company jeggings [below] fit better than a typical pair of skinny jeans but still have real pockets in the back to emulate real jeans! My favorite part are the faux pockets in the front - it keeps the front straightened out and less bulky than normal jeans. I asked the sales girl if they were going to receive any additional colors in this brand and she said for now it’s just the dark denim wash they’ll sell at Nordstrom. I’ll keep my eye out for additional colors - these jeggings are just TOO perfect to only have one color!
These jeggings fit true to size. If you’re a 26, you’ll most likely fit in a 26 in the Easy Moneys. Again, try on just in case but I didn’t have as hard of a time finding the right size in these as I did in the JOE’s.
What brands are you wearing this season? And seriously get them now, these are going to be hot items to wear in 2010!! XOXO
Chanel is one of the most desired brands of all time! The beauty, elegance and exclusiveness - I just wish I could afford more of it! At least for now, I will admire the beauty of Chanel design on paper. Take a look at their newest Spring/Summer 2010 Ad Campaign. XOXO
Last night I attended Jason’s company’s holiday party. It was at his CEO’s beautiful (and I mean, beautiful) house in La Jolla, complete with door-to-door limo service, catering and a magician! It was a magical evening and I just had to share my (affordable) outfit choice & some of the darling pics from the night!
So I just have to say that if you’re looking for a fabulous holiday dress plus accessories for under $50 - go to H&M! NOW! This dress was $30 and the necklace was under $10. Out the door I spent under $50 for this outfit and will be able to wear it at least one more time to my NYE celebration in San Francisco. And I’ll probably end up wearing black tights with it to keep warm, so will generate a completely different look! Honestly, H&M totally rocks it when it comes to affordable, high fashion designs - so go buy up the store before your holiday party is here! You will be THE hottest (and smartest) fashionista this holiday season!
Funky British designer Alexander McQueen does it again with his fantastically designed shoes at his Spring-Summer 2010 fashion show in Paris. These are STUNNING and absolutely amazing pieces or art!! XOXO
It was the question of the night; last Saturday, September 26 after almost 4 years of dating, Jason popped the question over (literally) a delectable red velvet cake at The WaterGrill in downtown LA; and YES I said YES!!! It was totally unexpected on my part since I was just reminiscing on a wonderful day in LA and enjoying the evening even more with him. I cried of course and he got a little choked up! It was so beautiful and thoughtful! I love you, Jason!
The beginning of the day consisted of driving up to downtown LA on Saturday (and as usual taking way longer than planned - dang parking lot on the 405!), arriving at the FABULOUS Biltmore Hotel, touring the MOCA and watching the RedBull Soapbox Races which took place literally on the same street as the Biltmore.
Biltmore Hotel actually deserves their own blog post (which I will probably write later) but I want to give them major props for the BEST customer experience/service I have ever had at a hotel. Ever. From the moment we booked our reservation all the way through to picking up our car at the Valet - every single employee greeted us with a genuine smile and made sure our every need was met.
Another huge props I have to give is to Leslie, the Marketing Director at the Biltmore. I had initially “met” her on Twitter when she saw me post a comment about booking an rsvp at the prestigious hotel a few months back. She immediately replied back to me with an offer to let her know if there was anything she could do to make our stay more enjoyable. Being a marketer and little bit of an investigator myself, I jumped at the opportunity to mention that “a complimentary bottle of champagne in the room is a good start *smiley face*”. Leslie replied back saying that she would definitely make sure we were “taken care of”. Which is a nice way to leave it open for interpretation - only to my surprise when we arrived in our suite, there was alas! a bottle of chilled champagne and a HAND WRITTEN NOTE from Leslie awaiting our thirsty selves. My, my the power of social media marketing and the people who truly connect their brands and experiences with their customers. What a lasting impression! Thanks again to the Biltmore Hotel for an unforgettable experience!! I cannot say it enough - your customer service and kind gestures will never be forgotten & we plan on staying with you for years and years to come! Learn more about this historic hotel here. Thanks again Leslie - we are most impressed with your Twitter skills and customer service follow through!
Follow the Biltmore on Twitter to get deals & other updates @BiltmoreLA!!
On Sunday we headed over to Santa Monica to eat a scrumptious breakfast on the beach and walk through Third Street Promenade before heading home. What a great weekend together!!
So it’s OFFICIAL! I’m going to be a Mrs.! I’m going to take awhile to start thinking about any plans and just enjoy this time with Jason as my fiance! Thank you to all for your love, well wishes and support! I love you all and cannot wait to start posting more info as it gets planned! Now…where to find Vera Wang dresses in San Diego… XOXO
Calling all my fabulous fashionistas who are just as obsessed with Jimmy Choo as they are bettering our world and helping those around us in need! To benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF), Jimmy Choo in Fashion Valley, San Diego, has generously donated a package worth more than $4,000 for one lucky winner. Each season for a year, beginning this fall, the winner will be able to pick her favorite pair of Jimmy Choo shoes to pair with a unique, one-of-a-kind snakeskin handbag. Drool!!
Only 300 tickets will be sold, on a first-come, first-served basis, until the Breath of Life “Well-Healed” Gala, which takes place on Saturday, September 26, 2009.
To enter this opportunity drawing, please call the CFF Office at 858-452-2873 . The offices are open between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. PST Monday-Friday (except for Monday, September 7, when closed in observance of Labor Day).
All proceeds from this fundraiser benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and go toward medical research to cure cystic fibrosis (CF). Cystic fibrosis is a fatal genetic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the United States (and 70,000 worldwide). Ten million people, or about 1 in 7 Americans, are carriers of the CF gene.
In the 1950s, few children with cystic fibrosis lived to attend elementary school. Today, advances in research and medical treatments have further enhanced and extended life for children and adults with CF. The predicted median age of survival for a person with CF has now surpassed 37 years.
The mission of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, a nonprofit donor-supported organization, is to assure the development of the means to cure and control cystic fibrosis.
Winners do not need to be present at the Gala event on September 26 to win, so do not let the date deter you from participating in such an exciting and heart warming event!
Don’t hesitate, there isn’t much time left to win Jimmy Choo for a year and help out the fight to cure CFF. Thank you for all of your undying support, San Diego fashionistas! XOXO
A local San Diego woman, who is 70 years of age was recently crowned PETA’s “Sexiest Vegetarian Over 50″. After being a vegetarian for 40 years, Mimi Kirk looks amazing as ever! Honestly, I hope that when I’m 70 I am as hot as this mama!
The contest was a nationwide vote conducted by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals and Kirk was the oldest of the 10 finalists! What’s funny is that the prize is just a basket of organic chocolates and other confections but the biggest prize is the title!
It’s inspiring to me to see beautiful, happy, vegetarian women look and feel so fabulous at any age! I’ve only been vegetarian for 3 years, but I plan on making it to 40 years just like Mimi Kirk! Congrats to Mimi and your support for your health, the environment and animals everywhere (OH! And being from San Diego)! San Diego Vegetarians RULE! XOXO
OK, even if you’re not completely on the up and up with fashion, you should at least know by now that Ed Hardy stuff is OUT. Not out like “oh so last week” but out like “they sell that crap at flea markets”. Just so wrong.
Just last night I saw a guy full on sporting an Ed Hard t-shirt to a club downtown, and yes, he was completely serious. And then later that night I saw another guy in a diamond encrusted Ed Hardy trucker hat. Don’t even get me started on the trucker hat no-no, but crystals…on your HAT? Nice one, Prince.
Earth to humans - Ed Hardy is not to be worn in public. Ever. Please add Ed Hardy to your list of douchebaggery clothing options alongside Smet and Von Dutch.
And for the love of FASHION; please do NOT go out in public in Ed Hardy!! Wear your tees to bed, to the gym, or use them as a nice dusting clothe - just do not put them on your pretty little back. You’re better than that…douchebags.
