Everybody loves a good happy hour and San Diego can boast a plethora of food and drink specials that are perfect for the cost-conscious local and the budget-savvy visitor. Whether you are visiting for business or pleasure, here are my picks of the best happy hours in San Diego.
*Psst! The ones with an asterisk are perfect if you are entertaining an out-of-town client.
Now and again I get the wonderful opportunity to write for San Diego Magazine’s fashion section. Just yesterday my most recent fashion article, Five Fashion Must-Haves for Spring 2010, was posted on the website. Check it out and please pass around!
Anthropologie is one of my most favorite stores to shop. Even if I don’t buy anything, I love looking through the bins of door & drawer knobs, colorful cookware, romantic bathroom accessories, whimsical clothing and irresistibly smelling candles. Their newest calling: nautical! I love nautical everything! It just feels so fresh and sweet. Makes me want to live on a yacht! Check out their darling new nautical line!
I’m not a big numbers junkie and don’t regularly check my blog statistics. However, just today I noticed several visits to my blog who came through the keyword search phrase “say yes to the dress sarah carr”. Being on the lookout for wedding dresses and loving almost every show on TLC I instantly knew that “say yes to the dress” was the hit TV show about brides on the prowl for their perfect wedding dress. Not only that but the girl who was on the recent show had the name Sarah Carr!
Now I’m just waiting to get emails and Facebook comments about my debut on TLC - but NO, NO I have not been on the show…but I do apparently have mad SEO skills
Here’s the clip - she states her name at 1:15. Enjoy!! xoxo
This weekend I went on a mad hunt for jeggings (a cross between jeans & leggings) - the new IT fashion piece to rock this spring! I have more than enough skinny jeans but jeggings caught my attention when I spotted them recently in the latest Anthropologie & Nordstrom issues. I had to find a fabulous pair or two for spring!
Notorious for forward-fashion pieces, I made Nordstrom my first stop on my quest. Luckily I did - because this is where I started AND ended my search. It was unbelievable how many Jegging brands and pieces they had in stock! I tried on a dozen pairs and ended up with two; JOE’s Grey wash ($88) and Easy Money denim wash ($88).
The JOE’s jean leggings [below] are available in 42 different washes and treatments and come fitted with an ankle zipper and even distressed options emulating your favorite pair of ripped up jeans. Fabulous! The only things I suggest with the JOE’s are getting the smallest pair you can possibly fit in to (tend to stretch) and just because you fit in one size in one style, doesn’t mean you will in another. In the grey wash I fit into a small but in the denim wash I fit into a petite. All I’m saying is make sure to TRY each style on before you buy.
The Easy Money Jean Company jeggings [below] fit better than a typical pair of skinny jeans but still have real pockets in the back to emulate real jeans! My favorite part are the faux pockets in the front - it keeps the front straightened out and less bulky than normal jeans. I asked the sales girl if they were going to receive any additional colors in this brand and she said for now it’s just the dark denim wash they’ll sell at Nordstrom. I’ll keep my eye out for additional colors - these jeggings are just TOO perfect to only have one color!
These jeggings fit true to size. If you’re a 26, you’ll most likely fit in a 26 in the Easy Moneys. Again, try on just in case but I didn’t have as hard of a time finding the right size in these as I did in the JOE’s.
What brands are you wearing this season? And seriously get them now, these are going to be hot items to wear in 2010!! XOXO
Chanel is one of the most desired brands of all time! The beauty, elegance and exclusiveness - I just wish I could afford more of it! At least for now, I will admire the beauty of Chanel design on paper. Take a look at their newest Spring/Summer 2010 Ad Campaign. XOXO
I haven’t been in many weddings nor have I fantasized extensively about what I want my own wedding to detail; but after being a bridesmaid in my high school friend’s wedding this past weekend I will admit there’s a tiny inkling of excitement in my heart for a little planning. Now don’t get your darling little lace panties in a bunch! There is no wedding in sight for me and Jason, however this past weekend got me thinking about fashion and just being simply exquisite on your big day.
There is so much to plan for a stylish wedding; bouquets, bridesmaids dresses, the actual wedding dress, reception décor, gosh the list goes on and it hurts my head just thinking about it all. Especially since I don’t have to! I solute you ladies who have put an entire wedding together while still maintaining your chicness and cool.
I am so happy for my beautiful friend, Christina and new husband, Eric Eagleson!! Your wedding was fabulous and I’m so happy that you’ve both found love and happiness! Love is so beautiful and I wish you both the best in all your years to come! Congatulations and enjoy the honeymoon!
Here are a few pics I took on my camera from the wedding. I also put them up on Flickr. Love! XOXO
I am obsessed with this song right now and the video is even more striking! Lady Gaga’s fashion is bleeding edge and hope it can inspire you to break your fashion boundaries every once in awhile… XOXO!
I am absolutely in LOVE with T by Alexander Wang! This line is casual, sophisticated and completely chic…perfect for summer. I recently purchased the pocket muscle tee at Barney’s and seriously can’t get enough of it.
Alexander Wang describes his line, “Necklines are stretched and armholes are strategically lowered so that it looks worn in. It’s like sleeping in a T-shirt and then wearing it the next day. It’s not this crisp little T out of the dryer. It’s draped and kind of wilted.”
These shirts are awesome and totally wearable around the house or out to a bar. And they’re totally easy to clean (NO dry cleaning necessary)! Go buy them before they’re all snatched up! These bad boys are gonna go fast this summer.
These strappy patent band sandals by Sergio Rossi are an absolute shoe…err show stopper. When I first put these heels on I about died - one because I knew I couldn’t afford them and two because they were completely and utterly beautifully crafted pieces of art. These shoes bring sex appeal to ANY outfit you care to wear.
I want these shoes SOO bad. Maybe a summer treat, right?
