Calling all my fabulous fashionistas who are just as obsessed with Jimmy Choo as they are bettering our world and helping those around us in need! To benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF), Jimmy Choo in Fashion Valley, San Diego, has generously donated a package worth more than $4,000 for one lucky winner.  Each season for a year, beginning this fall, the winner will be able to pick her favorite pair of Jimmy Choo shoes to pair with a unique, one-of-a-kind snakeskin handbag. Drool!!

Only 300 tickets will be sold, on a first-come, first-served basis, until the Breath of Life “Well-Healed” Gala, which takes place on Saturday, September 26, 2009.

To enter this opportunity drawing, please call the CFF Office at 858-452-2873 . The offices are open between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. PST Monday-Friday (except for Monday, September 7, when closed in observance of Labor Day).

For more information, please visit: http://bit.ly/cffjimmychoo

All proceeds from this fundraiser benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and go toward medical research to cure cystic fibrosis (CF).  Cystic fibrosis is a fatal genetic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the United States (and 70,000 worldwide). Ten million people, or about 1 in 7 Americans, are carriers of the CF gene.

In the 1950s, few children with cystic fibrosis lived to attend elementary school. Today, advances in research and medical treatments have further enhanced and extended life for children and adults with CF. The predicted median age of survival for a person with CF has now surpassed 37 years.

The mission of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, a nonprofit donor-supported organization, is to assure the development of the means to cure and control cystic fibrosis.

You can also follow the foundation for updates on the event on Twitter at twitter.com/yearofjimmychoo.

Winners do not need to be present at the Gala event on September 26 to win, so do not let the date deter you from participating in such an exciting and heart warming event!

Don’t hesitate, there isn’t much time left to win Jimmy Choo for a year and help out the fight to cure CFF. Thank you for all of your undying support, San Diego fashionistas! XOXO

I know this last weekend and next are full of partying because of Halloween but there is a really cool event happening this Wednesday, Oct. 29 at the Keating Hotel - NetParty (apparently there are already over 400 RSVPs!!!). Go check it out! Here’s more info that was sent to me earlier this week…

NetParty San Diego Free Launch Party!
When: Wednesday, October 29 2008, 6:00pm - 10:00pm
Where: Minus One Ultra Loung @ The Keating Hotel, 432 F Street, San Diego, CA

http://sandiego.netparty.com/networking-events.html

More Info…

The nation’s best-attended after work event for young professionals is now in San Diego!  We already have 400+ RSVPs for this event.

As seen in Forbes (Best of the Web) and Cosmopolitan (”Top New Ways to Meet”), NetParty events are held at the hippest venues and “combine business networking with social fun” (Forbes).

We host parties in 15 different cities at some of the country’s hottest venues, including Marquee and Hiro in NYC, Le Deux and Opera in Hollywood and Pangaea in Miami and Austin (see photos).

You are invited to RSVP for Free Admission to our San Diego Launch party (http://sandiego.netpar…) which will be held at the exclusive Minus 1 Ultra Lounge @ The Keating Hotel (admission to our events is normally $20).  Open yourself up to meeting hundreds of new people for business contacts and social connections and gain access to this incredible San Diego hotspot. We expect over 500 young professionals to attend!

Please be our guest and enjoy:

  • Drink specials (to be announced) from 6 pm to 8 pm
  • Complimentary passed hors d’oeuvres from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm
  • Cool music played at a low volume to facilitate successful business and social networking until 8 pm
  • DJ Scott Saunders spinning great music and creating a fun atmosphere after 8 pm while allowing for continued conversation and interaction
  • Making the acquaintance of hundreds of new, young, fun people for business contacts and friendships like you can do nowhere else.

Please also join us in connecting in our exceedingly new NetParty San Diego Facebook Group,  NetParty National Facebook Group, and on LinkedIn.  You can also follow our daring exploits on Twitter.

Situated in the “chill subterranean space” (Riviera Magazine) of what MSNBC designated one of the four “coolest hotels in the world,” Minus 1 was designed by the same folks who crafted such exotic autos as Ferrari and Maserati, and the lounge was created to possess that same sleek, smooth feel. The bar in this “sexy underground lounge” (CITY Magazine) is ultra high-tech as it’s made entirely from aluminium and steel.  Conversely, the walls reveal peeks to the original brick and stone, showing off the heritage of the hotel building.

We look forward to meeting you!

Schmoozing While Boozing in San Diego

In an effort to get all of our San Diego tech/web friends together I am organizing an event set for tomorrow, Thursday, October 9 at 5:30pm at WineSteals Hillcrest. The road has been rough for some of our fellow web peeps and I am (along with my company who is sponsoring (aka buying booze) the event, MindTouch) trying to get people together who are looking for jobs, looking to fill jobs, freelancers, designers, developers, web marketers, recruiters, etc. etc. This is a casual event to invite anybody who wants to further develop out their personal and professional networks within the San Diego tech market. I know times are tough out there right now so this is a time when we all HAVE to stick together - we cannot bend. If you have any (even a small amount of) time to stop by tomorrow night please make an effort to come out and support our industry, our friends, and our colleagues who need it most.

So far we have almost 40 people rsvp’d - which for such short notice is an AMAZING response! Come on San Diego (and Southern California!!) and get our industry moving & shaking again!!

Please RSVP here for the event. If you have any additional questions you can refer to my blog post on the MindTouch blog, dm me @sarahmcarr or email me directly sarahc (at) mindtouch (dot) com. Cheers and MANY, MANY thanks to our wonderful community!!

Tweetup Events in San Diego are Taking Off!

A couple of weeks ago was the (fifth I believe) San Diego Tweetup at the W Hotel in downtown. Thanks to Jenn Van Grove (@jbruin) for yet again hosting & organizing another fabulous meetup. I met some cool local peeps including Dmitry Shapiro, founder of Veoh Video Network and others. There was a GREAT turnout - I would estimate between 100 to 120 people showed up (Awesome!!).

Again, Dan Tentler was the photo master at the event - so I’m using photos from him taken that night below. More photos can be found at his Flickr stream.

The next SD Tweetup is Tuesday 9/23 at 7:30pm at the Pearl Hotel in Point Loma.

Learn more here:

See you all at the next Tweetup! Cheers bitches.

Mashable’s SummerMash LA was a Summer Bash

I went up to SummerMash LA on Friday to kick it with Pete & his entourage of thousands. It was good times. The venue was a little disappointing - a lot of dirt/sand, grass and stones around so definitely wasn’t easy for a girl in 3″ heels to get around. But overall the atmosphere was laid back and people were extremely approachable and friendly. I met a few cool people - some from MySpace, Investing.com, ThisNext, Veoh and of course Pete Cashmore himself. Well, I guess you could say I “met” him - it was more of a ‘Jump in the picture with him and bail out’. It was actually thought it was really weird. All night Pete would just take pictures will people - like he was this robot of some sort just making rounds through the crowd, taking pictures, appointing his assistant to get your name so you’re tagged appropriately, and moving on. I guess that’s what you have to do when you’re the “Face” of the company, no?

All in all it was a nice party. It was executed very well, the people were great, the drinks & food were free and plentiful, and the pictures were better than ever! :)
