Wilhelmina and Next Model Search at Andaz San Diego

OPEN CASTING CALL: WILHELMINA NY/LA & NEXT NY/LA MODEL SEARCH 2010 AT ANDAZ SAN DIEGO

Model Agents Will Select 25 Participants to Walk the Runway on Ivy Rooftop for a Chance to Win $500, $500 in Fashion Gifts and Potential One-year Modeling Contract

(SAN DIEGO) – Strike a pose for a chance to become the next cover girl at the Wilhelmina NY/LA & Next NY/LA Model Search 2010 at Andaz San Diego. Top agents from two world renowned modeling agencies will be scouting for new talent on Friday, August 27 for women over 21 beginning at 9 p.m. and on Saturday, August 28 for women under 21 from 10 a.m. to noon.

“This is a great opportunity for San Diego’s young and beautiful people looking for a career in modeling to be seen by modeling agents from famous agencies,” said Rachael Giannecchini, marketing manager at Andaz San Diego. “We encourage everyone to come for a fun night of glamour, fashion and a high-energy runway show.”

Model contestants can register at Andaz San Diego the day of the event or pre-register by calling 858-774-8800 or emailmodelsearch@sfinx.com. Participants should be prepared to fill out paper work, submit one head shot and one full length photo and are encouraged to wear a form fitting dress with heels. It is also recommended that the aspiring models be swimsuit ready and wear light makeup.

On Friday, August 27, the Wilhelmina and Next agents will notify 25 semi-finalists via text message based on the models’ photos and application. The semi-finalists will then:

  • Be taken to dressing rooms to prepare for a designer swimsuit runway show on Ivy Rooftop;
  • Strut the catwalk where they will be judged according to their runway performance by the Wilhelmina and Next agents, as well as the audience;
  • Based on the feedback of the agents and audience, the semi-finalists will be cut to 10 models, then five models;
  • Finally, the judges will select the winner who will take home $500, $500 in fashion gifts and a chance to win a potential one year modeling contract.

For guests accompanying the models, a free guest list will be available prior to 11 p.m. on Friday night. To register for the guest list, email guestlist@sfinx.com or vip@3Dlife.net.com.

For aspiring models under 21, the Wilhelmina and Next staff agents will circulate on Ivy Rooftop on Saturday, August 28, beginning at 10 a.m. Guests younger than 18 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to be considered.

The Gilt Groupe Makes a Grand Statement ‘When in San Diego’

The Gilt Groupe hosted their When in Rome / San Diego Advanced Screening last Thursday night and it went off without a hitch! The movie theater was entirely packed, the snacks were free (and who doesn’t like free movie theater popcorn!?) and the fashion was fabulous; everywhere I looked there was a must-have accessory or fashion staple for Spring at the screening!

Just a recap, the Gilt Groupe along with Marie Claire hosted an advanced screening of When in Rome and a VIP reception afterwards at the Se Hotel in downtown San Diego. Unfortunately I was unable to attend the reception but from the pictures, looks like it was a fabulous party! Great work, Gilt Groupe - keep up the energy and passion for what you’re doing and giving to all fashionistas out there - coveted fashion at an affordable price!!! XOXO

Sarah, Will You Marry Me?

It was the question of the night; last Saturday, September 26 after almost 4 years of dating, Jason popped the question over (literally) a delectable red velvet cake at The WaterGrill in downtown LA; and YES I said YES!!! It was totally unexpected on my part since I was just reminiscing on a wonderful day in LA and enjoying the evening even more with him. I cried of course and he got a little choked up! It was so beautiful and thoughtful! I love you, Jason!

The beginning of the day consisted of driving up to downtown LA on Saturday (and as usual taking way longer than planned - dang parking lot on the 405!), arriving at the FABULOUS Biltmore Hotel, touring the MOCA and watching the RedBull Soapbox Races which took place literally on the same street as the Biltmore.

Biltmore Hotel actually deserves their own blog post (which I will probably write later) but I want to give them major props for the BEST customer experience/service I have ever had at a hotel. Ever. From the moment we booked our reservation all the way through to picking up our car at the Valet - every single employee greeted us with a genuine smile and made sure our every need was met.

Another huge props I have to give is to Leslie, the Marketing Director at the Biltmore. I had initially “met” her on Twitter when she saw me post a comment about booking an rsvp at the prestigious hotel a few months back. She immediately replied back to me with an offer to let her know if there was anything she could do to make our stay more enjoyable. Being a marketer and little bit of an investigator myself, I jumped at the opportunity to mention that “a complimentary bottle of champagne in the room is a good start *smiley face*”. Leslie replied back saying that she would definitely make sure we were “taken care of”. Which is a nice way to leave it open for interpretation - only to my surprise when we arrived in our suite, there was alas! a bottle of chilled champagne and a HAND WRITTEN NOTE from Leslie awaiting our thirsty selves. My, my the power of social media marketing and the people who truly connect their brands and experiences with their customers. What a lasting impression! Thanks again to the Biltmore Hotel for an unforgettable experience!! I cannot say it enough - your customer service and kind gestures will never be forgotten & we plan on staying with you for years and years to come! Learn more about this historic hotel here. On Sunday we headed over to Santa Monica to eat a scrumptious breakfast on the beach and walk through Third Street Promenade before heading home. What a great weekend together!!

So it’s OFFICIAL! I’m going to be a Mrs.! I’m going to take awhile to start thinking about any plans and just enjoy this time with Jason as my fiance! All proceeds from this fundraiser benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and go toward medical research to cure cystic fibrosis (CF).  Cystic fibrosis is a fatal genetic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the United States (and 70,000 worldwide). Ten million people, or about 1 in 7 Americans, are carriers of the CF gene.

In the 1950s, few children with cystic fibrosis lived to attend elementary school. Today, advances in research and medical treatments have further enhanced and extended life for children and adults with CF. The predicted median age of survival for a person with CF has now surpassed 37 years.

The mission of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, a nonprofit donor-supported organization, is to assure the development of the means to cure and control cystic fibrosis.
